What is the real truth behind health and fitness

The sheer number of things you will learn in this article may seem overwhelming if you are new to the world of health and fitness. As a beginner we are easily overwhelmed which can be exacerbated when you can't figure out what is true and what isn't. You will see that most books are written from the writers own experience. What your goals are weigh heavily on the approach you choose when it comes to working out. That is why sometimes you can find conflicting information, and it is not necessarily the case that one is not true. You'll need to pay particular attention to just about everything you read.

We have all heard that swimming is a great way to lose weight. This is a fallacy. Swimming has many benefits but losing pounds isn't one of them. The reason for this is because as you are swimming the water is doing the work to support your body weight (called buoyancy) which basically means you aren't getting the workout you think you are or that you might if you were running or jogging long distances.

No pain, no gain. That's the only way to do it and get great results. If you are living by this motto you are making a mistake. What we are discussing here is not normal muscle soreness that you may feel after a workout involving unused muscle groups, but instead the pain in your body that does not stop quickly, stop immediately. An injury can only get worse if you don't stop.

Research supports the fact that a good program combined with diet can help you prevent serious injury and disease conditions. We all know about exercise and cardiovascular health, so that is just one. High blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol are only a few of the other conditions that can be positively impacted by exercise. Exercise and healthy lifestyle choices can also help slow the aging process.

It is well worth it to learn as much as possible concerning what is true or not in health and fitness. In fact, it is in your very best interest to do so. Since you are ready to exert the energy and time, it's important that you know what you are doing. This way you get the optimal benefit to your exercise program.
