Health and Fitness - Urban Legends exposed for Truth

We all know how things get started concerning information, and that certainly applies to health and fitness facts and myths. Someone hears something like a great exercise tip at the local gym. Maybe they even didn't hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again.

There is a greater likelihood that we will accept something as truth if we sense the person saying it is in some position to know, or has some authority. Actually, the untruths can be dangerous if they cause someone to perform an exercise the wrong way. We'll explore more about health and fitness myths and facts, please continue reading.

One perennial urban myth that has assumed legendary proportions is that using an ab machine/device and doing crunches will help rid you of fat in the midsection. We are always amazed to actually hear this. Plus, we have seen the late night infomercials that do seem to imply you can lose the belly fat with some whiz-bang ab blaster-dissolver-vaporizer thing. Belly fat is exactly what it implies, and that is a direct reflection on your percentage of body fat. You will see your ab muscles, such as they are, once you lose enough fat so your abs become visible.

There is a curious attitude when it comes to sweating. Many people tend to think that if they are sweating, then they are doing good and working hard. The converse seems to hold, as well. If there is no sweat happening, then they must not be working very hard. When you sweat, it is just your body cooling itself off. There is not a direct correlation between amount of sweat and degree of physical exertion.
The interesting thing is you can burn up a ton of calories and never sweat! You can take a good walk and accomplish that.

When you engage in a quality fitness program you will experience an all-round higher level of physical and mental performance. Indeed, the benefits of greater strength and stamina will help your physical performance. Plus the greater degree of clarity will obviously help you with mental performance. Also, it is true that people who have regular exercise naturally tend to carry those positive habits into other areas of their life such as diet and nutrition. There are truths and falsehoods or myths in health and fitness in all areas. You can find them as general statements, or specifically related to certain types of physical exercise. No matter what, though, do some quality reading and research and give serious thought to what you are doing. This information was brought to you by http://www.35slidescanner.com, your source for all things related on 35mm film scanner.
