Abs And Its Most Common Myths

What is the difference between regular muscle and abdominal muscle?

Your abdominal muscles are just like every other muscle in your body. Unlike biceps or quads they don't rest on a bony surface and they're only different in location. So you should train them the same way you would train, say, your biceps or your chest. There are basic laws of physiology which would apply to your abs as well as to all your muscles. To effectively work the muscle, your exercises should be done in the correct plane of movement.

Your abs should be trained everyday.

Your muscles should be given at least a day of rest to recover, and this is a rule of weight training that applies to your abs as well. Work your back every other day or 3 times a week instead of every day. Just like the rest of your body, they need a break. The trick is actually training them hard.

Exercise your abs to eliminate abdominal fat.

Spot reduction is a myth. People think that if you have fat deposits on your abdominal, you can make it go away by exercising the muscles underlying the fat. People who assume this is wrong. Repeatedly exercising that body part won't make the fat over a muscle go away. A healthy, low calorie diet and prolonged exercise is the only way to burn fat from your tummy.

To make gains, high repetitions are required.

Similar to every muscle in your body are abs. Training your abs is similar to how you train the rest of your muscle groups. You have to overload your muscles to make strength gains with your abs.

It's not impossible to have a flat stomach.

Achieving a flat stomach is not physiologically possible for many people. In most of us the abdominal muscles are designed to be somewhat rounded, not flat. Factors that decide the size, appearance, and shape of your belly are gender, genetics, and age.

Training abs will worsen it if you have bad luck.

You'll be strengthened if you train your abs. Always assisting each other are the opposing muscles in your body. The load of the work will fall on the back if the muscles in your abs are weak. Your abs need to be strengthened in order for your back to be stronger.

These are myths about abs, and you need to avoid falling victim to them. What you need to do is train intelligently with training techniques to get super abs.
