It already sounds stereotypical, but we really have to say it. Proper teeth care is imperative. Its basic to all of us. But what people do not know is how to take care of their teeth properly. And most people think that brushing is enough. And sadly enough, for these people, they don't even know how to brush properly.
Brushing the teeth is not enough. When brushing, you need to use the right toothpaste containing proper amounts of fluoride to keep your teeth white. To clean the teeth efficiently, brush with a circular motion. After brushing the teeth, the tongue needs to be brushed as well. The tongue works like a culturing dish for bacteria. And a dirty tongue is a source of bad breath. Another way to clean the tongue is by using a tongue scraper.
Aside from brushing regularly, you also need to floss at least once a day. Brushing is never enough. Food particles may get trapped in between your teeth and in those hard to reach areas. The problem here is that spoiled food produces acid. And if you allow food particles to stay along your teeth for more than 24 hours, it can produce acids that will cause tooth decay. This is why before the day ends; you might want to floss your teeth to rid them of some leftovers.
It's not just cleaning though that ensures a healthy set of teeth. Habbits also have a lot to do with the health of your teeth. Coke and other types of soda are highly acidic drinks that can corrode your teeth so you need to stay away from them. Same thing with liquors that are a bit less acidic compared to soda. The same goes with smoking. Lots of tar and nicotine can get trapped and adhere on your teeth.
Nutrition has a lot to do as well. Sweet foods can easily damage the teeth. Instead of using sugar, you can use Xylitol sweeteners. Xylitol gum is also available and noXylitol side effectshave been established yet.
