Walking is the True Path to Healthy Weight Loss

If you've decided to shed off a few pounds, then you'll have most probably have created some sort of workout plan. If you haven't exercised in a while, or never, you may not have any idea how to get going. It may even feel a little scary, commitment wise. Fortunately, it's not that confusing or hard to do - merely start walking. You absolutely must integrate walking into your exercise plan if you haven't done so already.

First, when you're creating an exercise plan, be sure and include walking as a day-to-day activity. Are you a dog owner? Take your dog for a fine, long walk. Anything under 10 minutes doesn't count. 10 minutes may not seem like like a lot of walking, but over the course of a month, or even a week, it adds up quickly. Do you want to get a little more exercise? Take Fido for two walks a day. Another thing you might want to consider is walking part of the way to work; you can make this as long as you want by just stopping short of your workplace. This is something you can do no matter how far you live from your workplace. If you're lucky enough to have only a thirty-minute or so walk to your place of work, that'll be an extra hour of walking each day. But then, if you catch the bus to work, you can just try to use a bus stop farther away than the one you normally use. You'll see it truly is no big deal to add more walking to your daily exercise regimen.

Walking is great for your body and overall health. Because it's an aerobic exercise, you'll burn off calories, which means you'll get rid of excess weight and it's also good for your heart. You can go at a moderately slow pace if necessary, so don't be worried that you're going to hurt your muscles or joints as you might if you went for a run. I have a brother who's one of those folks who eats a ton of junk and fast food but never puts on weight. How does he do it? He tells me doesn't know, but he say that he does a lot of walking every day. It all added up when he said that. There is no good reason not to exercise, when walking is very easy.

When you establish walking as a part of your daily activities, it will become easier to stay with it, and as a bonus you'll begin to notice you're losing some pounds, too. You won't have to worried about motivation, as walking is not all that strenuous, and you'll be encouraged at how much better you feel. Before you know it, you'll be looking forward to your frequent walks and thinking about doing even more. If you believe you can do more - don't hold yourself back. Once you get to the point where you're walking at a very good pace and feel ready, You may be ready for jogging. And you can move on to even more challenging workout regimens, if you prefer.

What else is there that you need to know? Are you excited to begin walking? Even if you lead a busy life you can find 10 minutes to walk around the block, or if you're a member of a gym, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
