You might think that sleeping is the most natural thing in the world, but for many people it's far from easy. Quite a few people are walking around and going to work suffering from a perpetual sleep deficit. Yet, as modern research has shown, it's simply not healthy for the body or mind to function without enough rest. You may not be sleeping well because you're not moving around enough all day long. The results of eating a heavy meal, and then going to bed, can be a bad case of indigestion. Your body has sent a lot of its energy to your stomach to digest all that food you ate and this can lead to unpleasant after effects. If you really need to eat something before bedtime, be creative and make yourself a healthy snack that isn't overwhelming for your body to digest.
Just before going to be, practice an exercise that relaxes your muscles and helps you to breathe more deeply. This is a simple exercise where you hold and then release tension all over your body, one area at a time, starting with the toes; tense for five seconds, then relax.
