As you perform several exertions in a slow and steady pace with intensity slowly leveling up, your muscles become bigger and tougher.

The more intense the muscle activity, the better and faster the muscle is developed. Think about your exercise regimen - if it doesn't have some form of staggered efforts and more difficult challenges over a period of time, then you can only expect a limited muscle growth. After all, some exercises can only help you build so much muscle. Whatever muscles you build through these exercises would only be used to perform everyday duties more effectively. Anything beyond these tasks would be near impossible.

On the contrary, a fully developed muscle does not only allow you to do normal tasks; it is calibrated to reach its full potentials far beyond what regulating muscles can do. Bodybuilding helps you develop your muscles to the extreme.
