2 Easy Ways To Keep That Excess Weight Off

If you are reading this then you must have reached your target weight and shed those excess pounds. Well now how do you keep it off? Most diets unfortunately only concentrate on the first part, on losing your excess weight in the first place, not on maintaining your new figure. So you end up reaching your target weight which is fantastic, but then scratch your head and wonder what to do then.

A few diets do talk about maintenance once you reach your goal, like the Medifast diet and the Eat Stop Eat system, but most others fail badly in that area. We have two pieces of advice to help you take control of your weight and stop you putting all that weight back on, you can find that advice below:

Try exercising - I know you probably didn't want to see that on the list, but exercise is actually a fantastic way to keep yourself trim. The fact is that you calorie intake will probably increase as you come off your diet, and by exercising then you can help to burn off the excess calories that you are eating, so you weight stays stable. That doesn't mean you need to become a gym-junkie, just that you need to start getting out and getting more active, use it as an excuse to show off your slim new body!

Adapt your diet - That might sound like the last thing on your mind once you reach your target weight, but hear me out first. As your diet has been a success then it has obviously taught you how to keep your calorie intake low and how to eat healthy foods which fill you up without fattening you up, so if you want to avoid putting on weight then you need to take those guidelines and use them in how you eat moving forward. Just make sure you increase the amount of calories you are supposed to eat each day so that instead of losing weight, you stay stable.

Neither of those options might sound like fun to you, but I am sure you find your new slim figure fun right? So you need to work to keep it like that or else you will be right back where you started. Personally my preference would be to do both exercise and modifying the diet to get the best results.

Then because you are exercising and burning off calories you can increase the amount of calories per day you can eat while still maintaining your figure, which means you can add in some treats like a pastry or some potato chips, without feeling guilty. You might not get things right at first, keep an eye on your weight and you might find yourself going up or down, but then just adjust your eating and exercise plan to bring things back under control.
