As summertime draws near, a lot of people get excited and start planning on how to get that beach-worthy body they've always dreamed of having and flaunting. But past the initial vigor, most are not able to keep up with the necessary workload to get buffed up. Others don't even get to have a headstart.
A lot of people will tell you that body building takes time, and doesn't happen overnight. Take for example former Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger, He didn't get that body by exercising for a few weeks. It took him years to attain that level of definition in his body. Of course, Arnold's body having the right proper proportions helped him a lot. But that is just one thing, to have your biceps, triceps and glutes tone and buff-up properly, you really have to work hard at it.
Muscle building starts with determining what your goals are and what steps must be done in order to achieve it. Also identify your main motivation for this task. Do you want to be able to fit into your old clothes? Do you want to lose those flabs and replace them with toned muscles? Or do you want to build muscle ala Mr. Olympia? What you want will determine what must be done in terms of your workout program to fit you and your goal.
You may want to ask yourself some questions too. Like, do you want to be healthier by working out? Or are you doing this to attract women? Undoubtedly, getting a well-toned body and that much-coveted six-pack abs will draw attention and admiration from girls. But don't forget that doing all these to build up your morale and self-esteem plus getting a healthy body and a strong cardio system are far better and compelling reasons to go on.
The next step is to map out a game plan on how to go about achieving this goal. Determine the level of commitment you would be willing to put into this endeavor and work around it by setting a suitable amount of time to workout each day. Decide also, whether you want to do your routines in a gym, or if you'r rather do it at home. If in a gym, you might be needing to avail of a membership plan, or do you already have one?
If you want to see changes in your body, then you would have to apply changes in your lifestyle as well. And that includes adjusting your eating habits too. Certain modifications like cutting down on your beer intake or laying off on junk foods are some sacrifices you would have to embrace to acquire that muscular body you want.
One's diet must contain high level of protein and carbohydrates. Intake of sweets and ice cream which are rich in sugar must be slowly decreased too. Eating lean meats such as chicken and turkey especially fish in your diet would also help. Always keep in mind to balance your protein, carbohydrate and fat intake.
Once you get a clear picture of what you want, why you want it and how to get it, you are ready to begin your workout. A clear-cut plan will help you keep your focus and will ease out your body-building endeavor.
