Most of us have at least one habit that makes it hard for us to achieve our optimum state of health. Unfortunately, a person may suffer from more than a single negative tendency. Anytime you have a vice with a negative impact on your life, like smoking, drinking or eating badly; you need to figure out how to change your ways. Sugar and some junk foods are considered as dependencies; but there are many avenues open to research and find help with these. Even if you are not able to stop your addiction altogether, if you can minimize any at all, you will be complimenting your health. Research shows that sitting for drawn out periods can be terrible for you. Sadly, for those of us who do our work on a computer, for instance, we do not have a lot of options. Apparently, standing up, even when you aren't doing any kind of exercise, is still more natural and healthier for the body than sitting. It is good for your health to be intellectually active along with being creative. No matter how old you are, it's never too late to learn something new, or to practice a hobby you've had since you were a kid. As you age it is especially important to keep your brain sharp, by exercising your mental muscles when you are reading, doing a puzzle or learning a new skill.

Hobbies such as art, reading, knitting all keep our brains functioning, and they keep us interested in life. New hobbies can always be developed while you are keeping up with your hobbies and interest. Taking adult education classes with keep your life stimulating, so do if you can.

Good health involves keeping your emotions upbeat, so you need to find pleasurable things and find time to do them. There are areas of your life that you may need to change, because all of your decisions affect your health, and maybe you made some bad ones.
