When, like me, you're not as young as you used to be, and your metabolism has slowed ever so slightly. You realize that you're not happy with your appearance.

You know the time has come to hit the gym.

You'll look at all sorts of options for what things are right for you, but I bet you won't look at what bags for gym use are the best.

Buying the best gym bag is often a challenge.

What kind of fitness club should I go for? An expensive one or one with just the bare essentials?

My outfit? Will I spend hundreds of dollars on designer labels to look great and attract the opposite sex, or will I just stick with a pair of shorts and a plain t-shirt?

Specialist running shoes or can I just use what I already have?

Something I overlooked was the gym bag I would use.

I had a bag I used in college but I didn't think it would last very long. Bags for gym are really important as it was just uncomfortable hoisting that thing around all over the place.

And gym bags are now often a fashion statement. You wanna fit in at a top sports club, you'll need an expensive leather bag with a prominent designer label. You know what it's like at those sort of clubs.

Personally I just went for the most hard wearing bag I could find. That wasn't too big.There are quite a few types of bags for gym use. You can get:

• Gym bags with room for a yoga mat - I would never have thought of this.

I advise to look for 3 things when it comes to what bags for gym use you will decide one:

Looks, durability and space.

You'll need a good looking bag. And black leather bags look fantastic, although most bags look good nowadays.

Is it going to last? Ensure the material is not going to tear at the first opportunity and if dropped will your bottle of aftershave smash?

Buying the cheapest bag you can find is probably not the best idea.Will it hold everything you need it to hold? There are many sizes of gym bag, ranging from the over the shoulder bag to giant duffel bags.
