How To Lose Weight Quickly

It is fairly easy to lose weight quickly, if it is just a short term goal. Most diets you stumble into online and in books will help you lose weight in the short amount of time you can stick to them. In that time, some people lose anywhere in between 5 and 15 pounds, all depending on how much extra water or weight they had to lose to start with.

But, unfortunately, many people tend to fall off their good intentions after a while, and the weight is gained right back. In fact, the amount of weight gained back is usually higher than the amount of weight one lost to start with. So, as you can see, if you need to lose a greater amount of weight like, for example, around 30, 50, or 100 pounds and most of all you need to keep it off, your approach must be different.

Your main goal should be to find a diet that allows you to lose the weight in a considerably fast amount of time, which you also feel comfortable to stay with for weeks or even months.

You can try one of two different things. Either one will work, so it is up to you which you will choose depending on what you prefer to eat, and also depending on your health status. There can be certain risks involved in losing weight fast and especially in taking the first of these options.

Low Carb Diets

Some people call low carb diets high fat diets. Being high in protein is not always the case. They work on the concept that high fat foods make you feel full for a longer stretch of time. So, if you are not hungry, you won't eat as much. At the same time the restriction on carbohydrates ensures that the fat consumed is burned for energy instead of being stored.

Low Fat Diets

Low fat diets are more popular with mainstream health professionals but often they do not go far enough. Very often you are required to eat low fat dairy products, but many of them are still loaded with sodium or sweeteners, and therefore they are not as good as one would think. It is much better to eat beans, skinless chicken or fish for protein, and avoid the low fat cheese. Avoid all refined and processed foods and limit oils, butter, and oil-based salad dressings to a total of 3 teaspoons per day.

This is the type of diet that is usually recommended to someone who has had health issues like a removed gallbladder. Adding a tablespoon of ground flax seeds will add to your daily intake of fatty acids, and eating enough fresh fruits and vegetables between meals will also keep you from feeling hungry.

It is a common belief that just by reducing portions while still eating everything, one would lose weight. Theoretically of course this is true. We should be able to eat everything, if we don't overeat anything.

But chances are that if you were a person who could stick to eating moderately and able to stop eating if not hungry, you would not need to be on a diet to start with. So, if you want to lose weight and keep it off your body, it is time to come up with a strategy.
